Michelle Karpovich

Chemistry Teacher
My name is Michelle Karpovich. I have been teaching high school chemistry at Western Albemarle High School in Crozet, Virginia for the past 15 years. I teach 6 classes, 3 preps, and 140 students in a school that operates on an 8-period day in a modified block schedule. I began implementation of a flipped-mastery learning environment in my first year chemistry classes during the 2012-2013 academic year so that I could reach every student in my class everyday. I am one of five teachers in my school (and the only one in my content area) who utilize the flipped-learning model to some degree in their classes. I am the only teacher in my division who combines flipped learning with mastery learning.
